Chateau Cristi Cabernet Sauvignon-Saperavi

A noble red built from selected Cabernet Sauvignon and Saperavi, aged twelve months in oak barrels. The grapes are hand picked on the estate vineyards at Găvănoasa, in the protected Valul lui Traian zone of southern Moldova, with yields limited to six tonnes a hectare. Saperavi lends colour and a savoury, earthy edge to the Cabernet's structure, giving a wine that is powerful yet harmonious.

The producer

Château Cristi

Château Cristi was founded in 1882 by Vladimir Cristi, a mayor of Chișinău. The estate farms 120 hectares near Găvănoasa, in Valul lui Traian in the south of Moldova, with twelve grape varieties. Its estate wines are harvested by hand, kept to six tonnes a hectare and aged six to twelve months in oak.
