Chateau Cristi Cuvee Rouge Royal

The estate's calling card, a Cabernet Sauvignon led blend with Merlot and Malbec, aged twelve months in oak. The grapes are hand picked on the Château Cristi vineyards at Găvănoasa, in the protected Valul lui Traian zone of southern Moldova, and the house tells of this cuvée being served at the court of the Russian Empire. Rich and soft in the glass, with rounded tannins and a long, smoky close.

The producer

Château Cristi

Château Cristi was founded in 1882 by Vladimir Cristi, a mayor of Chișinău. The estate farms 120 hectares near Găvănoasa, in Valul lui Traian in the south of Moldova, with twelve grape varieties. Its estate wines are harvested by hand, kept to six tonnes a hectare and aged six to twelve months in oak.
