A young red from the Politika range, led by Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc alongside it, aged in tank rather than oak. The grapes come from the estate vineyards at Găvănoasa, in southern Moldova. Ripe red fruit, moderate tannins and an easy, sociable style.

The producer

Château Cristi

Château Cristi was founded in 1882 by Vladimir Cristi, a mayor of Chișinău. The estate farms 120 hectares near Găvănoasa, in Valul lui Traian in the south of Moldova, with twelve grape varieties. Its estate wines are harvested by hand, kept to six tonnes a hectare and aged six to twelve months in oak.
