A young Malbec from the Petit range, made in the traditional way with a long maceration on the skins. The grapes grow on the estate vineyards at Găvănoasa, in southern Moldova. Full and velvety on the palate, with moderate tannins and balanced acidity, an approachable red that still holds its shape.

The producer

Château Cristi

Château Cristi was founded in 1882 by Vladimir Cristi, a mayor of Chișinău. The estate farms 120 hectares near Găvănoasa, in Valul lui Traian in the south of Moldova, with twelve grape varieties. Its estate wines are harvested by hand, kept to six tonnes a hectare and aged six to twelve months in oak.
