Blanc de Noirs

Sparkling wine · 750ml

A brut sparkling wine from Pinot Noir alone, pressed gently and drawn off the skins quickly so the wine stays pale while keeping the delicate fruit of the grape. The second fermentation takes place in tank, giving a fine and persistent mousse. The fruit is hand picked on the estate at Găvănoasa, in the protected Valul lui Traian zone of southern Moldova. Eight thousand bottles were made.

Tasting notes

Aroma

Citrus and rose petals, with freshly baked pastry and a note of almond.

Palate

Clean and lively, with bright acidity and a silky texture; pink grapefruit, red apple and lemon cream.

Finish

Long and refreshing, on a mineral backbone.

The producer

Château Cristi

Château Cristi was founded in 1882 by Vladimir Cristi, a mayor of Chișinău. The estate farms 120 hectares near Găvănoasa, in Valul lui Traian in the south of Moldova, with twelve grape varieties. Its estate wines are harvested by hand, kept to six tonnes a hectare and aged six to twelve months in oak.
