Chateau Cristi Pinot Noir

2019Red wine · 750ml

A classic Pinot Noir from hand picked estate fruit, fermented cool and aged in Transylvanian oak. The vineyards lie at Găvănoasa, in the protected Valul lui Traian zone of southern Moldova, where yields are held to six tonnes a hectare. Light bodied and gentle, with silky tannins and a fine aftertaste that turns towards violets and truffle as the wine opens.

The producer

Château Cristi

Château Cristi was founded in 1882 by Vladimir Cristi, a mayor of Chișinău. The estate farms 120 hectares near Găvănoasa, in Valul lui Traian in the south of Moldova, with twelve grape varieties. Its estate wines are harvested by hand, kept to six tonnes a hectare and aged six to twelve months in oak.
